NDIS FAQs

What is NDIS?

The NDIS is a new GOVT program that provides funding for a huge range of disability care services and other assistance. Under the new program, anybody who has a disability will be eligible for funding amounts to pay for the support and care they need to maximize their life quality.

Why need NDIS?

Previously every state and territory has managed disability support themselves, and the system was underfunded, fragmented, unfair, and inefficient and gave people with a disability little choice. The NDIS is a federally managed and funded safety net, offering a nationally consistent, and lifetime commitment to assist people with a disability in their daily life.

Who controls NDIS funds?

You do! Your plan will tell you how much funding you’ll receive for every support but it is your decision how funds are managed. You can pick to manage the funds by you or nominate the NDIS, a registered provider in Melbourne, or someone else you trust to do it for you. With this, you will always retain control over how, when, and where your assists are provided.

Will the NDIS cost anything?

Not directly – National Disability Insurance Scheme is a program paid via tax contribution like Medicare. It is programmed to work side by side with health, education, and many other universal services.

Will NDIS affect Carers Payment or Disability Support Pension?

The disability support pension analog with other payments and income supports such as carer supplement, carer payment, child disability assistance payment, and Care allowance is entirely separate from the National Disability Insurance Scheme and will not be affected if you’re eligible for the NDIS.

What can be funded?

Your funding can be used for a wide range of things, including:

  • Life skills, daily living, and self-care activities
  • Social and community participation
  • Home modifications
  • Therapeutic supports
  • Aids and equipment
  • Employment and workplace support
  • Transport and community access

Care Specialists assist you with living safely and independently in the comfort of your home. Our community access is meant to support you in pursuing an independent lifestyle reliably and securely.
